General Dynamics Awarded $5 Million for Production of 25mm Gun Barrels

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), was awarded a $5.1 million contract from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command, Rock Island, Ill., for the production of 25mm gun barrels. The units will serve as replacement barrels for the 25mm M242 chain gun that equips the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, for which General Dynamics also produces reactive armor.

The 25mm barrels will be manufactured at General Dynamics' Saco, Maine, facility, with program management occurring at the company's Vermont-based Burlington Technology Center. Work will be performed by existing employees, with deliveries commencing in September 2006 and continuing through December 2007.
