The Cost Estimating Sr Specialist: Oversees financial operations for one or more projects, including cost accounting, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, accounts payable and payroll | Establishes project budgeting and cost control processes using budget tracking tools | Produces and maintains monthly financial statements, work-in-progress reports and general ledgers | Reviews and signs off on final accounts for projects | May maintain local registrations, business and tax licenses
Responsibilities
- Develops cost estimates for projects based on work scope, specifications, and contract proposals using applicable estimating methodologies and tools.
- Analyzes project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service requirements.
- Uses benchmark data, trends, prior estimates, and historical pricing schedules to generate detailed cost estimates that consist of itemized lists of expenses, labor hours, material quantities, and potential cost variations.
- Depending on the complexity and type of project, may use different estimating methods, mathematical models, or specialized estimating software tools to generate estimates.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience: Associates Degree and 5 -7 years experience OR Equivalent combination of relevent education and/or Experience
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
Discipline/Major: Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Cost Estimation. Material Requirements Planning. Project Estimation. Requirements Analysis. Spreadsheet advanced. Cost Analysis. Specification Review. Construction Estimating Software. ERP Systems.
Critical Professional Related Technical Skills; Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, IFS, ProPricer).
- Experience in cost estimating, material and labor forecasting, or financial analysis in the aerospace and defense industry.
- Familiarity with government contracting regulations, including FAR/DFARS and TINA compliance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and provide actionable insights.
- Experience with parametric estimating techniques and forecasting models.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and workforce planning.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Travel Requirements: Less than 25% travel likely.
