Overview
Electric Boat is seeking engineers of all levels to join the Simulation/Stimulation (Sim/Stim) Software Engineering team at the Newport Engineering Office (NEO) in Middletown, RI. This is an opportunity to work with a team of engineers with diverse backgrounds on a large, technically challenging project to produce quality products that support the US NAVY. Our team produces products to test all classes of submarines in land based test facilities.We are committed to employee growth and advancement. We foster a supportive culture of respect, appreciation, and pride in our work.As a member of our software engineering team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to many aspects of our project. Our team provides the full range of services for our products. We build, develop, review, maintain, document, test, deliver, troubleshoot and test our software and hardware and their associated configurations. We work in a Linux based environment using Agile methodologies. Some travel is required for this position. Our products are deployed at multiple contractor sites and are supported by our team throughout the product lifecycle. Engineers may have the opportunity to directly interface with customers and/or end users. The NEO is offsite from our primary location in Groton, CT. Our site offers the benefits of a large company with the flexibility and personal feel of a small office environment. We provide lab space and infrastructure that support Sim/Stim development and testing at the NEO. Our group primarily works in office. Our office has nearby housing, restaurants, shops and easy access to beaches and the RI coast.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's of Science degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Engineering5+ years of post graduate professional engineering experienceExperience working a Linux environmentProficiency in C++ or JavaAbility to travel to customer sites as neededAbility to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance through the Department of Defense
- Proficiency with software development languages including: C++20, Java, Python, and bash
- Familiarity with networking concepts
- Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skill Familiarity with networking concepts (e.g. CORBA, AMQP, DNS, DHCP, DDS, gRPC), programming (e.g. sockets), and troubleshooting tools (e.g. Wireshark)Knowledge of software test philosophies, software test tools and test driven developmentKnowledge of automated testing and mocking frameworks including google test and JunitExperience with JavaFX frameworkUnderstanding of Agile methodologies, JIRA and GitlabFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelinesExperience developing requirements documentation including specifications, test procedures, test reports and technical manualsFamiliarity with software deployment tools and concepts such as Ansible, containerization and virtualizationCybersecurity related certification, training, or experience working in a STIG compliant environment
