Overview
This position is primarily located at theGroton facility and may require occasional travel to Quonset Point. This position will engage in both Nuclear and Non-Nuclear construction activities, and will require flexibility in work schedule to include infrequent off shift and weekends to support ships key events and test programs.This position in a growing, high profile, department is looking for enthusiastic individuals to guide project teams to identify, assess, and mitigate inordinate risks to ensure successful execution of complex tasks. To achieve these goals, the right candidate needs to be a team player with strong critical thinking and interpersonal communication skills as well as a relentless questioning attitude.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Ability to gain knowledge on all facets of the submarine construction processes via research and personal interactions and apply critical thinking to identify areas of risk.
- Facilitate risk mitigation meetings for all levels of personnel on a large variety of projects.
- Providing engineering review for implementing formal risk assessments and mitigation methods.
- Ensuring engineering engagement in construction related Learning Sessions.
- Providing oversight and direction for engineering surveillances of construction and testing evolutions.
- Coordinating Senior Management Review Teams for complex tasks.
Responsibilities
- Working level knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to independently communicate with all levels of management and customer representatives.
- Ability to read/interpret Piping and Instrumentation drawings.
- Ability to read/interpret engineering/mechanical drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
Required
- A Bachelor of Science or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace/Aeronautical, Civil, Electrical, or Marine Engineering
- 5+ years experience in a collaborative engineering/construction environment
- A working knowledge of project management principals as they relate to risk and risk mitigation.
- Nuclear Propulsion Plant experience beneficial.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
- Experience interacting with shipyard planning, operations, quality, and test organizations
- 5 years of engineering and/or consulting experience leading collaborative multidiscipline efforts.
