Description: About the Role
The Senior Designer/Checker position is a highly specialized role within the Design Services group, requiring expertise in product design for major military vehicle systems and components. The role involves detail-oriented checking using Model Centric techniques for components such as heavy structures, castings, forgings, weldments, sheet metal, routed systems, and precision mechanical mechanisms. The candidate will be responsible for performing tolerance analyses, space claim studies, and interference/clearance evaluations. Additionally, the role requires conducting design calculations for mechanical, geometric, and mass properties.
Qualifications Sought:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in military design.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in Model Centric techniques for components such as heavy structures, castings, forgings, weldments, sheet metal, routed systems, and precision mechanical mechanisms.
- Proficient in the use of TeamCenter, NX, Vis Mock-Up, and CREO.
- Skilled in performing tolerance analysis, space claim studies, and interference/clearance evaluations.
- Ability to conduct design calculations for mechanical, geometric, and mass properties.
- Standards Knowledge:
- Proficient in ASME Y14.5-2009, ASME Y14.100-2013, and Mil-STD-31000-2018.
- Familiarity with ASME Y14.41-2019.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Experience maintaining status reports in Microsoft Access and other essential documentation.
- Collaboration and Leadership:
- Ability to participate in design reviews and mentor less experienced drafters.
- Strong communication skills to convey necessary changes to designers for incorporation.
