Responsibilities for this Position

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As a Systems Engineer for the SDA GMI program, you will be a key member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing and deploying state-of-the-art ground operational systems. Your contributions will be vital to the success and innovation of the program.

Preferred Skills and Experiences:

Domain Knowledge:

Ground system design or scheduling knowledgeTracking mission design knowledgeSatellite communications knowledgeGround to satellite communication knowledge

Technical Skills:

Experience with system/software design for cloud-based microservice architectureKnowledge of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows)Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)

Systems Design and Integration:

Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologiesExperience with systems design, integration, and validationProficiency in requirements analysis and system architecture design

DevOps and Automation:

Understanding of DevOps principles and practicesExperience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

Cloud and Infrastructure:

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)Knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)

Security and Compliance:

Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practicesFamiliarity with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)

Collaboration and Communication:

Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teamsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsProficient in documenting system designs, configurations, and procedures

Preferred Technical Background:

Systems Engineering:

Proficiency in systems engineering, decomposing requirements into architecture, internal and external interfaces, and design behaviorExperience with ground pre-planned or ad-hoc scheduling and situational awareness of satellites and payloadsExperience with tracking IR payload or ground mission data transport, handling, and analysisExperience decomposing high-level space-ground systems design into ground software/systems design

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE):

Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as CAMEO or MagicDraw

Programming and Tools Skills:

Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and MATLAB, including for software developer coordination, system analysis, prototype algorithm development, or modeling

Cloud Computing:

Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment

Simulation and Modeling:

Background in simulation and modeling analysis with tools like STK, particularly in aerospace applications a plus

DevOps and Automation:

Understanding of DevOps principles and practicesExperience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

Security and Compliance:

Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practicesFamiliarity with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)

Collaboration and Communication:

Combined Salary Range

USD $95,384.00 - USD $105,817.00 /Yr.
