Basic Qualifications
Requires a Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred,CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:As a Systems Engineer for the SDA GMI program, you will be a key member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing and deploying state-of-the-art ground operational systems. Your contributions will be vital to the success and innovation of the program.Preferred Skills and Experiences:Domain Knowledge:
- Ground system design or scheduling knowledgeTracking mission design knowledgeSatellite communications knowledgeGround to satellite communication knowledge
- Experience with system/software design for cloud-based microservice architectureKnowledge of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows)Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologiesExperience with systems design, integration, and validationProficiency in requirements analysis and system architecture design
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practicesExperience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)Knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practicesFamiliarity with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teamsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsProficient in documenting system designs, configurations, and procedures
- Proficiency in systems engineering, decomposing requirements into architecture, internal and external interfaces, and design behaviorExperience with ground pre-planned or ad-hoc scheduling and situational awareness of satellites and payloadsExperience with tracking IR payload or ground mission data transport, handling, and analysisExperience decomposing high-level space-ground systems design into ground software/systems design
- Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as CAMEO or MagicDraw
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and MATLAB, including for software developer coordination, system analysis, prototype algorithm development, or modeling
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment
- Background in simulation and modeling analysis with tools like STK, particularly in aerospace applications a plus
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practicesExperience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practicesFamiliarity with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)

USD $95,384.00 - USD $105,817.00 /Yr.
