Job Description

General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada is seeking a Systems Engineering Analyst to join our Canadian Air team in Ottawa. This role offers the opportunity to be directly involved in the design, analysis, testing, and documentation of cutting-edge aerospace systems. Responsibilities include contributing to critical project milestones through design, analysis, and test activities, including the development and execution of formal test cases. The position also involves reviewing and documenting architecture and UML diagrams, as well as supporting root cause investigations. Collaboration across departments, participation in aircraft modification efforts, and presenting findings in technical reviews are key aspects of this rolealong with a focus on driving product and process improvements.

The responsibilities and range of activities will vary depending on experience, but in general will include:

  • Performing design, analysis and/or test activities in support of completing the project objectives
  • Documenting analysis, designs and tests (e.g., architecture diagrams, UML diagrams, tech notes, design documents, test plans and test reports) in the format prescribed by standard templates
  • Writing formal test cases and execute them to collect formal test results
  • Preparing written test reports for submission to the end customer
  • Investigating system problem reports and field incident reports; perform root cause and trend analyses
  • Providing technical support during higher level integration and qualification testing
  • Providing technical inputs to, and reviewing technical outputs from our aircraft modification subcontractor
  • Interfacing with support departments e.g. Supply Chain, Component Engineering, Contracts;
  • Product and process improvements; identifying opportunities to improve products and services, and drive those changes
  • Making presentations of work at design reviews or other types of peer review

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent
  • Relevant systems engineering experience with complex electronic systems or a combination of equivalent education/experience
  • Experience in/with:
    • requirements development, and system design
    • requirements management tools
    • Systems Engineering processes and tools
    • supporting System Integration and System Verification
    • working in multi-disciplinary teams
    • technical writing
  • Understanding of Software and Systems Engineering principles
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to conduct analysis leading to good conclusions
  • Enthusiastic contributor, willing to learn, and takes pride and ownership of work
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
